Introduction
Oh, where to begin? There is just so much to say, and so little time left. We, those who want to be among the Remnant of God’s people, need to wake up, grow up and get moving. To say the time is short just means the time is now! How are we going to be the overcomers that He has called us to be if we won’t let go of our childish ways and truly walk the narrow path? How are we going to overcome when we don’t even see the obstacles being placed in our path by the enemy and those who could be considered his foot soldiers?
So few believers today have a clear understanding of the Word of God. Most are content to just sit and listen to a teaching, having the milk of the Word spoon-fed to them because they are neither ready to tackle the meat of the scripture, nor do they have the desire to chew on the word. Yet, in every congregation across the face of this earth, there are those who hunger and thirst for more. We are not satisfied with the teachings of man; we long for the healing waters that flow from their Savior… but do we even understand what those words mean?
And of these people, the ones who truly strive to be part of the remnant of His people, the spiritual heirs of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, do we truly understand the times we are living in? Pray that we do!! We need good, spiritually strong folks in the days ahead or we won’t be considered among the overcomers that Yeshua (Jesus) called us to be.
Yeshua taught us that during the end times, when the birth pangs are upon us, the bridegroom would delay in coming and that His people would fall asleep awaiting His return. These virgins were ready, just sleeping. So too, God’s people have dozed and slumbered. We were prepared… remember Y2K? We were so ready for what was to come… only it never came. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have something coming, because we do. We have something coming, the likes of which this world has never seen before, and if we’re not ready for it, we will not make it through. Behold, the enemy is at the gate… do we, you and I, even know he is there??
The entire world changed as of September 11, 2001. The events of that day are forever etched into our collective memory, but yet what do we really know about that fateful day? There have been many laws passed under the umbrella of “national security” yet who is looking out for the Constitution in light of the “War on Terrorism”? And what ever happened to the rule that only Congress can declare war? Has anyone been paying attention to what our leaders are telling us and what is really happening? Or are we too busy watching the latest episode of our favorite show?
Sadly, God’s chosen people have conformed to this world more than we care to admit. Walk into your average church on an average Sunday and tell me the difference between these folks and the ones at the mall. I dare say you won’t be able to see much of a difference. Walk into your average Jewish community center on the same day, and you’ll see lots of folks who claim to be God’s chosen ones, but really could care less about finding out what that really means. Both groups of people claim to be “God’s chosen” but both groups are unwilling to come together and walk together, echad, in unity, as brethren should.
The world doesn’t make much of a distinction between the two groups. When Islam refers to “the people of the book,” do you think they are only referring to Jews? “First Saturday, then Sunday!” is the cry of the Jihad. First the Jew, then the Christian… this is what they are boldly proclaiming from the rooftops of Gaza, and the mosques in Iran. We have a religious war of biblical proportions coming (I know this, because the Word tells me so) and we here, in the West, refuse to admit it is religious in nature. “Islam is a peaceful religion,” they assure us. Peaceful my eye!! Their prophet was guided by an angel claiming to be Gabriel, who took Mohammed by the throat and commanded him to read, although Mohammed was illiterate. Does this sound like the normal actions of Gabriel?
Clearly we have a war coming that will have no front lines… it will be everywhere. Don’t believe me? Have you looked into what has been going on in Africa between the Muslims and the Christians? How about Indonesia? How many have been arrested in China simply for meeting with friends in their homes, talking about God? These people are already living in tribulation. We, here in America, have not had to taste tribulation. We have been immune. This is quickly coming to an end, and we are oblivious.
Since there is nothing that can happen outside of the will of Adonai (Hebrew for “the Lord”), we know that He has a plan and He wants us to be a part of this plan. We know this because “the Bible tells me so.” But what does the Bible actually say about the end times? How can we know what is God’s plan and what is man’s interpretation of God’s plan? How can we learn to stand… together? What does it mean to be an “overcomer”? I guess the real question we need to ask is, are we willing to believe what the Word says is true and act upon that knowledge?
Ah-ha! I think we’ve just stumbled upon something… could it possibly be that we don’t want to know the answers to these questions because we would then be held responsible for acting accordingly? Could this be why so many good people sit quietly in their pew, week after week, not wanting to learn anything more than what Preacher has to spoon feed them? I dare say it may be. To those people, the ones who have been happily sleeping in their comfortable little lives, I now say, “Wake up!! Time is running out!! Everyone must choose… so choose this day whom you will serve!”
I know, I know… you’ve heard it all before. “Repent, for the end is near!” Every generation has had their “nut cases” who’ve insisted that the end is nigh, and convinced a group of good people to end it all. Lord knows we’ve had plenty of them in this generation. But we’ve also had plenty of prophecies being fulfilled in this generation, from the birth of a nation in just one day, to the abandonment of Gaza and the withdrawals to come.
Put all of these things together with current world events, as understood through spiritual eyes, and we have reason to be frightened, especially if we are not sure of our position in the eyes of God. Evil is good and good is evil, just as Adonai El Shaddai told us it would be so many years ago. Why did He tell us of these things? What did He want us to know, and why? If we are really going to be “out of here” by the time these things come to pass (as the current popular teachers tell us) then why did He bother to tell us these things? We speak of the “rapture” but do we really understand what the concept is, from a biblical standpoint and not just the rhetoric repeated by our Sunday school teachers?
I think it’s time we turn off our televisions, step away from our computers, open up our Bibles, whatever translation we have, and find out the answers to these questions… before it’s too late. We need to know before “they” come knocking on our doors to take us away… to where? Where are they going to take us this time? And what will be done with us once we are there? How can we avoid being taken at all? What can we do to save ourselves… to save our families and loved ones? Is there anything we can do? The Holy Bible has the answers to these questions, if we only take the time to look.
Over the years I have heard many people say that this life is difficult and we really should have been given an instruction manual. The truth is we have been given the instruction manual… we just refuse to study it! I say, “It’s time! It’s time to study God’s word and apply it to our lives!!” We need to get together with other believers, from all different walks of life, and see what message God has given to them. We need to compare notes and instead of tearing each other apart, we need to help each other along the path, even when our paths don’t look alike. God isn’t bound by our religious divisions; He transcends all human made lines and touches lives in places we would never suspect, in ways we’ve never dreamed.
God has placed His watchmen on the wall. He has placed them there for a reason… to sound out the alarm when trouble is approaching. Well folks, trouble is approaching and I feel the need to sound the alarm. Does that make me a watchman? I guess it does. If I am, and trouble is approaching and I say nothing, what kind of watchman am I? Not a very good one. I don’t know about you, but it’s my life’s goal to hear the words, “Come now, my good and faithful servant…”
Abba, Father, as we, your children, come together to seek the answers to these questions, we humbly ask You to lead and guide us into Your truth. We seek Your Spirit to give us understanding of the difficult passages so that we may learn what it is You will have us to do in the months and years to come. Abba, we know that we have all been guilty of living off the prayers of somebody else from time to time, and not seeking Your face, as we should be. We, not just we but our forefathers as well, have turned away from Your Word for the words of those who claim to be Your people, but are not. We have all been led astray to the point where we don’t know Your Word. Please forgive us now, our loving Creator, and help us to turn back to Your Word. Clean our hearts and renew our spirits and return to us our first love. Don’t let us be among those who are deceived, but shine the light of Your truth before us so that we may be able to see the lie from the truth. Help us, O Lord, to become the bride worthy of Your Name. May we be spotless in Your sight, as we become more like You each day. We thank you and we praise Your Blessed name, O Most High, Yeshua our Savior, our Father and our King, for You have heard our cry and will give us exactly what we need, exactly when we need it, for we know that You love us even more than we could ever possibly love ourselves. Your promises are ever true and Your grace and mercy are beyond compare! We know that You answer our prayers. We ask all these things in the name of Yeshua our Messiah and coming King. Amein.
